Autodesk Inventor Series 10 -
What's New
Autodesk Inventor Series didn't become the world's number one - selling
3D mechanical design software by accident. It's the industry leader because
it consistently delivers the right tool for the job, helping you design
your entire product line with one integrated solution. Autodesk Inventor
Series includes Autodesk Inventor 3D design software; AutoCAD Mechanical,
built on the AutoCAD platform for 2D mechanical drawing and detailing;
and Autodesk Vault, integrated data management for securely managing work-in-progress
design data.
Design accelerator functionality makes it easy to move from 2D to 3D
with interactive tools that create complex parts and assemblies based
on real-world attributes such as speed, power, and material properties
rather than complex geometric descriptions. So make the transition to
3D at your own pace, protect existing 2D investments, and work with the
most DWG-compatible platform available.
So, what's new with Autodesk Inventor Series 10?
Optimize Weldment Creation and Analysis
It's easier than ever to model welds in 3D and simulate weld manufacturing
processes. New features enable you to model gap and groove solid weld
beads while enhancing fillet welds, both as 3D solids. Modify weld preparations
during weld bead creation with Move Face functionality. New analysis and
reporting tools provide bead volume reporting and comprehensive interference
detection on all weld types. The benefits-a streamlined workflow, optimized
weldment design and documentation.
Accelerate Design Changes and Part Creation
Modify parts quickly with the new 3D grips tool that enables drag-based
editing of 3D models. Or use the new feature generator to quickly and
easily create intelligent, fully editable parts by dragging predefined
shapes from the content library.
Design with Real-World Relationships
New design accelerator functionality extends design beyond 2D drafting
and 3D geometric descriptions to physically based, real-world mechanical
relationships. The design accelerator includes the following:
- Engineer's Handbook - Save time by researching engineering
formulas, Z algorithms, tables, and standards from anywhere in Autodesk
Inventor software with this comprehensive online reference.
- Mechanical Calculators - Avoid costly rework and
improve design efficiency with easy-to-use interactive calculators and
analysis tools that are built on standard mathematical formulas and
physical theories for calculating fits, tolerances, torque, pressures,
dynamic or static loads, and more.
- Component Generators - Design, analyze, and create
commonly used machine components based on real-world attributes such
as power, speed, torque, working temperatures, and lubrication conditions.
Gain major productivity through automatic design, validation, and analysis
of mechanical connections, shafts and hubs, o-rings, gears, belts and
chains, and more.
Collaborate More Accurately with Suppliers and Customers
Collaborate with suppliers and customers using the enhanced IGES and
STEP import and export capabilities that increase performance and reliability.
The new construction environment includes tools for inspecting, editing,
and managing imported solids, surfaces, wireframes, and points.
Visualize, Validate, Present
The Autodesk Inventor Studio provides built-in, state-of-the-art rendering
and animation directly in the design environment. Explore design concepts
and present design intent with compelling renderings and animations that
improve communication by creating photorealistic prototypes.
Access Content When You Need It
The new Content Center gives you fast and easy access to a unified database
of components, simplifying creation, reuse, and management of all company
content. Enhancing and expanding the standard parts library, the Content
Center provides innovative content management, customization, and publishing
capabilities for individual users and workgroups.
